Shomer isn't a large-scale government program or a distant organization. We're a local initiative — helping neighbors become guardians. Each Shomer team is a tight-knit group of 8–12 trained volunteers embedded directly in a community: a church, a neighborhood, a business district.
When conventional help is slow or unavailable, a Shomer team already knows the people, the layout, the needs — and is ready to act with calm, trained conviction.
Professional first responders are essential — but they can't be everywhere. Shomer teams fill the gap that exists in every community: the critical first minutes, the overlooked corner of a church, the business owner who doesn't know what to watch for.

120 hours · Practical, community-focused care
Guardians learn to provide emergency medical care in the real environments they inhabit — a church parking lot, a business hallway, a neighbor's living room. Emphasis is placed on scenarios most likely to occur in local settings.
Training scenarios are set in churches, office spaces, and neighborhoods — so guardians respond with confidence in the exact places they serve.
80 hours · The heart of local guardian work
The most powerful thing a guardian can do is notice — before anything happens. This element trains guardians to read environments, recognize behavioral signals, and identify risks early. It forms the cornerstone of our church and business training programs.
Church ushers, business owners, and neighborhood watch members receive targeted SA training adapted to their specific environment and role.
100 hours · Leading under pressure, serving with clarity
A Shomer team's strength lies in its trust and coordination. Guardians learn to organize quickly, communicate clearly, and make sound decisions — without ego, without panic, and always in service of those around them.
Team leads are trained to interface directly with church elders, business managers, and neighborhood associations — keeping leadership structures intact under stress.
90 hours · Safeguarding the most vulnerable
Whether it's guiding a congregation safely out of a sanctuary or ensuring an elderly neighbor is accounted for during a neighborhood emergency, Shomer guardians are trained to protect with purpose — never from fear, always from commitment.
Training uses the actual floor plans and gathering patterns of partner churches and businesses — so protection plans are real, not theoretical.
Most incidents don't begin without warning — they begin without someone who knew what to look for. Shomer's Situational Awareness training is offered as a focused program for churches and businesses, even independent of full guardian membership.
